Thursday, May 10th, 2007

Well, I’m very happy to report that we know now for a fact that I will not be pregnant any later than Tuesday the 15th!!!

I had my 39 week doctor’s appointment today, and I am dilated to 5cm and 80% effaced! The doctor (Dr. Painter….who I really realy like) said that she doubts I’ll make it to the weekend, and that the baby is basically ready to fall out! Since I’m so dilated, and being that dilated increases the risk of infection, that if I don’t go into labor on my own this weekend, they’ll induce me first thing Monday morning!

Now for a little bit of background…

Sunday night, I started having this feeling where my entire stomach would get really really hard, and I had kind of a crampy achy feeling in my lower abdomen. It also made my whole stomach kinda sore and made it slightly uncomfortable to walk. I had these feelings literally all night. They got a little stronger and a little more regular (maybe 10-15 minutes apart for an hour at their most regular), but I was able to go to sleep around 10:30 in the morning, and they basically stopped.

Woke up Monday afternoon with a rash on my stomach that was kind of itchy, but the contractions were almost completely gone. I had maybe 4 in 5 hours. Took a few oatmeal baths, and chilled most of the day.

Monday night I started having contractions again. They kept me up all night again, got a but more uncomfortable/painful, and got pretty regular. They were coming about 5-7 minutes apart around 6 in the morning. I woke Tyler up and told him, and then they basically stopped. I went to sleep around 9am, and when I woke up, contractions were almost gone again.

Nothing really happened Tuesday. I tried to relax, got some baby clothes done, watched tv, etc. Sleep great Tuesday night! On Wednesday, I worked on some banner ads for Outside Magazine and Crocs, and then Tlyer and I went to Wal-Mart and Home Depot so I could do some walking and so we could pick up some random stuff we needed. Tyler and Brad watched the Braves game at our house, and then I watched Lost. Went to bed Wednesday night and slept great through the whole night.

This morning, I finished the ads for Crocs and went to the appointment at 2. That about brings us up to date. I’m having some contractions, but I haven’t been timing them yet. I think I should probably start. I’m dilated half way, so hopefully I’ll get through this labor without too much pain.

Hopefully, my next post will contain pictures of my new baby girl and all the labor details!

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

Well, it’s officially MAY! Our little lady, who we’ve decided to name Margaret Kathleen, is due in two weeks, but we’re hoping she’ll come a little early. At my 37 week appointment last week, I was still 2cm and 75% effaced, so no real progress. We have another appointment on Thursday, so, hopefully, we’ll have made some more progress by then.

Watching for all the signs of labor is making me very very anxious! I’ve already had days where I felt just completely awful, and days where I was really energetic and wanted to clean everything. For those of you who have lived with me, you’ll understand why I thought there was something up when I just HAD to clean the bathroom and scrub the tub! I’ve started having more and more of what I suppose are Braxton Hicks contractions, where my whole uterus gets really hard and tight and then releases after a minute or so. In the past 3 or 4 days, I’ve also started having lots of pressure and crampiness in my lower abdomen, with an occasional sharp pain in the same area, but they never get more regular. These pains and cramps mostly happen at night, so I guess I’m going to have to get my sleeping done during the day.

I’m just so excited to meet her….I can’t wait! Sylvia and Cathi have already had Lily and Avery, so that’s making me even more anxious! Hopefully, miss Maggie won’t wait til the last possible minute to get here…let’s hope she has her mommy’s desire to be early, and not her daddy’s tendancy to be just barely on time or late :P

I’ll try to update this as more develops. :)

Well, I had my first weekly exam today. The doctor said everything looks great, baby is no longer measuring small, and her heartbeat is good and strong.

Now, for the big news…I’m already dilated to 2cm, and 75% effaced! The doctor said our little girl could literally come anytime now…maybe this weekend, or maybe another 2 or 3 weeks from now. She said it’s likely that the baby will be out before her due date! She also said that the baby is kind of head-butting her way out…putting so much pressure on my uterus that it looks like she’s dilating me faster :)

So, everyone get ready…baby girl Brunson is going to be here soon!

Well, I’m 35 weeks this week, so our little girl should be here sometime in the next 5 or 6 weeks. Its so hard to believe that the past 8 months have gone by so fast!

All of the baby showers were so much fun! Thanks to everyone who came, and special thanks to Donna, Susan, Kanda, Lynn, Angie, Sarah, Maria and the Harris Baptist Church ladies for putting on the fabulous showers! We got so many wonderful gifts for our baby girl! With all the gifts, and the stuff we’ve bought, we’ve just about gotten the nursery ready for her! I’ll post pictures of the finished nursery when we get it cleaned up and completed :)

Randy Pace took some amazing pictured of me and Tyler a few weeks ago on March 25th (about 33 weeks)! We absolutely love them! Here are a few of my favorites:

Kate Hunter also did a plaster cast of my belly. It looks so awesome! She’s decorating it right now, but I’ll upload a picture of it when its done. Its going to hang on the wall in the nursery.

I can really feel the baby getting bigger now. It honestly feels like I’ve gotten a lot bigger even in the past few days! She kicks all night, and wiggles around constantly. Tyler gets pretty freaked out when he feels her, because her movements are so strong! She’s pretty bad about keeping me up at night with her moving, and I’ve become addicted to Tums, but other than that, I haven’t had many issues. All in all, its been a pretty enjoyable pregnancy! I’m almost sad to having it ending, though i really can’t wait to meet her!

I’ll try to post again soon…and try to keep this updated more often :)

We had an appointment today to have an ultrasound, since I was measuring small at our last appointment. You can see some pictures from the ultrasound on the ultrasounds page, or you can scroll down to see the videos.

Through the ultrasound, they verified that she is measuring a little small (about a week), but that everything seems fine. She was moving around a bunch while they were doing the ultrasound, and they said that she’s very active and seems happy in there!

We also found out that she’s already got a lot of hair on her head, and she does have big, full lips! They told me that I could expect to gain around 16 to 20 lbs total for this pregnancy…many women gain like 50, so I was glad to hear that!

We got a really cute video of the baby at the ultrasound. Use the interface below to check her out…you can use the fast forward and rewind buttons to see the video frame by frame.

We’re finally done painting the nursery!!!

Yesterday, we touched up the paint, put another coat of white on the doors and trim, and took the tape down. After we admired our handiwork, we put the crib together and put the bedding on. I may be biased, but I think its absolutely beautiful! I can’t wait to get all the furniture in and get everything decorated, but that’s going to have to wait a few weeks.

So, here are the before (left) and after (right) pictures of the painting:

Here’s the Photoshop rendering I did of what I wanted the paint to look like (left), and a real-life photo of how it turned out (right)…I think we did pretty good!

Here are a few pictures of the crib and the bedding:

Thanks again to Bob and Sarah for their help painting, and Kanda and Raymond for the gorgeous crib!

We’ve almost got the painting done in the nursery! Bob and Sarah were nice enough to give up most of their Sunday to come over and help us with the painting! Thanks Muffins family!

Here are the pictures of what we got done:

I seriously started measuring the walls and doing all the math and figuring for those stripes at about 11AM. I wasn’t done taping them off until about 5PM. This little girl better love these stripes!

So now all that’s left, as far as painting goes, is to go around and touch up drips/bare spots/etc. I’ll be doing that today, and, hopefully, I’ll get to post pictures tomorrow of the finished painting job!

Also, Kanda and Raymond came over yesterday and brought the crib! Its so beautiful! As soon as we’re done with the painting, we’ll put the crib together and start decorating the nursery! Thank you, again, Kanda and Raymond, for all of your help!

We got some more painting done in the nursery yesterday!

We painted the pink horizontal stripe at chair rail height, and we painted the doors and all of the trim a bright white (it used to be this yucky apartment-white that was more like the color of oatmeal).

BELOW IS A QUICK PHOTOSHOP RENDERING of what I want the room to look like when its done. I thought it would be fun to do this and then compare how close it is to the actual finished product when we get done.

Thursday, February 22nd, 2007

We started painting the nursery yesterday! It was Tyler’s day off, and I had decided that I really wanted to paint the room, since it was painted a bright blue, and all of the bedding and everything we got for our little girl had a real ‘classic girly’ feel to it. So, we went to Lowe’s, got our paint mixed (finally found a use for that Color-Aid paper left over from college), came home, primered the entire room (including the trim), and painted the first color.

We’re actually going to do a lot of work on the painting in the room. We’re using 4 colors, and I think it will take us until Monday before we’re done with the painting. I already kind of miss the blue, but I think our little girl’s room will end up looking absolutely beautiful!

So, here are the ‘before’ pictures:

And here are the pictures I took today after ‘Step 1′ in the painting process had dried:

Yes, that green is pretty close to what it looks like in real life (depending on the color settings on your monitor…it looks about right on my machine). It came out a little darker/brighter than I wanted, but its just about a light, mint green. Cross your fingers that it turns out looking awesome! I’ll add more pictures once we get the next step done.
