We’re finally done painting the nursery!!!

Yesterday, we touched up the paint, put another coat of white on the doors and trim, and took the tape down. After we admired our handiwork, we put the crib together and put the bedding on. I may be biased, but I think its absolutely beautiful! I can’t wait to get all the furniture in and get everything decorated, but that’s going to have to wait a few weeks.

So, here are the before (left) and after (right) pictures of the painting:

Here’s the Photoshop rendering I did of what I wanted the paint to look like (left), and a real-life photo of how it turned out (right)…I think we did pretty good!

Here are a few pictures of the crib and the bedding:

Thanks again to Bob and Sarah for their help painting, and Kanda and Raymond for the gorgeous crib!

We’ve almost got the painting done in the nursery! Bob and Sarah were nice enough to give up most of their Sunday to come over and help us with the painting! Thanks Muffins family!

Here are the pictures of what we got done:

I seriously started measuring the walls and doing all the math and figuring for those stripes at about 11AM. I wasn’t done taping them off until about 5PM. This little girl better love these stripes!

So now all that’s left, as far as painting goes, is to go around and touch up drips/bare spots/etc. I’ll be doing that today, and, hopefully, I’ll get to post pictures tomorrow of the finished painting job!

Also, Kanda and Raymond came over yesterday and brought the crib! Its so beautiful! As soon as we’re done with the painting, we’ll put the crib together and start decorating the nursery! Thank you, again, Kanda and Raymond, for all of your help!

We got some more painting done in the nursery yesterday!

We painted the pink horizontal stripe at chair rail height, and we painted the doors and all of the trim a bright white (it used to be this yucky apartment-white that was more like the color of oatmeal).

BELOW IS A QUICK PHOTOSHOP RENDERING of what I want the room to look like when its done. I thought it would be fun to do this and then compare how close it is to the actual finished product when we get done.

We started painting the nursery yesterday! It was Tyler’s day off, and I had decided that I really wanted to paint the room, since it was painted a bright blue, and all of the bedding and everything we got for our little girl had a real ‘classic girly’ feel to it. So, we went to Lowe’s, got our paint mixed (finally found a use for that Color-Aid paper left over from college), came home, primered the entire room (including the trim), and painted the first color.

We’re actually going to do a lot of work on the painting in the room. We’re using 4 colors, and I think it will take us until Monday before we’re done with the painting. I already kind of miss the blue, but I think our little girl’s room will end up looking absolutely beautiful!

So, here are the ‘before’ pictures:

And here are the pictures I took today after ‘Step 1′ in the painting process had dried:

Yes, that green is pretty close to what it looks like in real life (depending on the color settings on your monitor…it looks about right on my machine). It came out a little darker/brighter than I wanted, but its just about a light, mint green. Cross your fingers that it turns out looking awesome! I’ll add more pictures once we get the next step done.

As many of you know, Tuesday was my 24th birthday! Our little one gave me a wonderful birthday present…she let me sleep straight through the night without kicking really hard or kicking my bladder!

It was a really great birthday! When I woke up, Tyler gave me the sweetest birthday card! Then, he made me a whole batch of cupcakes! We spent most of the day rearranging the furniture in the living room to make room in the office/junk/guest room to turn it into the office/nursery. The living room looks great! I’ll post pictures as soon as we get everything done in there. For dinner, he made me king crab legs, shrimp, and pasta…it was heavenly! Tyler also put the pack n’ play/bassinet together the night before, so I was very excited! It was so fun to see where our little princess is going to be sleeping :)

Here’s a picture of our Pack N’ Play (Graco Windsor)…in real life, its a lot less ‘army green’ and more ’sage green,’ and the lining is gingham and toile:

On Wednesday morning (Valentines Day), I had my Gestational Diabetes test. I’ll post when I find out if I passed it or not. When we got home from the test, Tyler and I organized the laundry room and kitchen. We went over to Michelle’s for a Valentines dinner Wednesday night with Shane, Kelly and Dave, and their 1.5 year-old son, Mason. I played with Mason while everyone else was grilling/cooking. It was literally the most time I have spent with a small child since babysitting in high school, and he was so precious! I had so much fun playing with him, and I almost cried thinking about how I’ll be playing with our little girl in a few short months. It also made me realize just how much you have to pay attention to small children when they start walking. He was all over the place, and kept picking up everything he could find…and I was amazed at how quickly he could get away with such short little legs! I’m so glad babies don’t know how to walk/crawl as newborns :P

After Mason went to sleep, we played Pop 5 Cranium…and I just have to say that Michelle makes the best play-doh Trapper Keeper ever!

So me and baby are doing well. She kicks all the time…I actually got to see her kick yesterday. I was sitting in Tyler’s dirty blue chair with my shirt pulled up so I could see my belly, and she kicked so hard that I could see a lump (foot/elbow/something) pop up! It was so cool!

It’s gotten to where I can feel parts of her body sometimes if I poke around on my belly. I can feel what I assume to be her head or butt or something kind of large right below the skin. Its so bizarre! Sometimes when I do this, she apparently gets mad, because then she’ll kick my hand!

Sometimes, I think the greatest thing about this pregnancy (other than the whole miracle of life thing and yadda yadda yadda) is that I pretty much have entertainment on demand. I could sit there and watch/feel her kick all day long!

Unfortunately, Tyler doesn’t get this same luxury. He still hasn’t been able to feel her kick since the first time he felt her. She’ll be kicking up a storm, then he puts his hand on my belly and she immediately stops! Two or three minutes after he’s given up, she’ll start kicking again! My aunt Donna said that its just that he’s already such a good father that the baby knows to stop misbehaving as soon as her daddy comes around :P

We got our car seat today! We ordered it online, and it was delivered this afternoon around 4pm. Tyler was at work, but I cried as soon as I saw the UPS guy pulling into the parking lot. Don’t know why I got more emotional about the car seat than the bedding and other things we’ve purchased for her. Maybe it was because I’ve literally spent the past two days jumping up to look out the window every single time I hear a vehicle outside :)

Anyway, this is the seat we got:
